del Segri\u00e0 i el nord de les Garrigues. El canal d&#8217;Urgell i els regs del Segarra-Garrigues proporcionen al paisatge un canvi total que contrasta amb els secans predominants a la banda sud del municipi. A la primavera els camps es vesteixen d&#8217;un mantell de colors amb diferents matisos de les flors dels fruiters, ametllers, oliveres i conreus magn\u00edfics del nostre territori.<\/p><p>La vila t\u00e9 895 habitants (2022), una extensi\u00f3 de 65 km2 i es troba a 360 m d&#8217;altitud. Al Liber feudorum maior, l&#8217;any 1033 ja apareix per primer cop el nom del castell d&#8217;aquesta vila, en aquells temps anomenat Castrum Assinos, d&#8217;on deriva l&#8217;actual nom de Castelldans. Del castell nom\u00e9s en queden algunes restes, per\u00f2 constitu\u00ed un punt important a l&#8217;\u00e8poca isl\u00e0mica, en qu\u00e8 Castelldans fou un lloc defensiu de primer ordre de la Conquesta cristiana.<\/p><p>L&#8217;Esgl\u00e9sia de la Mare de D\u00e9u de l&#8217;Assumpci\u00f3, de fa\u00e7ana renaixentista i campanar de torre quadrada, t\u00e9 a l&#8217;altar una imatge de pedra policromada de la Mare de D\u00e9u amb el nen, del segle XIV, del mestre Guillem de Seguer. La pres\u00e8ncia dels monjos cartoixans d&#8217;Scala Dei queda palesa a l&#8217;entrada de la rectoria i en algunes cases del carrer dels Frares que daten de la primera meitat del segle XVII.<\/p><p>Sortint de l&#8217;esgl\u00e9sia i caminant pels carrers, s&#8217;arriba a la pla\u00e7a de Catalunya i al passeig que porta a l&#8217;Ajuntament, les escoles, les piscines i la zona esportiva.<\/p><p>Les rutes de &#8220;Castelldans, Terra Verge Extra&#8221; ofereixen fins a quatre recorreguts tur\u00edstics, que permeten descobrir el patrimoni natural i cultural de la poblaci\u00f3 i les seues tres serres.<\/p><p>Des del 1954 el poble compta amb una ermita dedicada a la Mare de D\u00e9u de Montserrat, on cada any se celebra una festa a finals d&#8217;abril.<\/p><p>A principis de maig s&#8217;hi celebra la Festa de les Cassoles.
